Every Day is an Adventure
Why I love owning a small business…
I never dreamt of owning my own business, I ended up with one however when I was looking for a way to work and still care for my daughter. My one-person online shop turned into a brick-and-mortar store in Provincetown which both my daughter and I adore. I opened the store as a way to spend time with my child but over the last 7 years I’ve gotten the pleasure of spending time with countless children seeing and visiting with them year after year; watching them grow, learning from them, and awaiting their return the following year. I have a...
Kyoto

(January 2018) While I was learning to love our new home of Japan and specifically Okinawa, we lived in such a large expat community it often didn’t feel like we were really living in Japan. So with a long weekend approaching we took advantage and headed to mainland Japan, specifically Kyoto. Kyoto was the capital city before Tokyo and remains much smaller than Tokyo, but with an amazingly dense amount of history. The closest airports to Kyoto are in Osaka. . My sidekick and I flew into Osaka Itami Airport. My husband flew into Kansai International Airport, (he was traveling...
“Wear a Wool& Dress for 100 Days Straight”

Here goes nothing - Anyone who knows me (but mostly my sister) can attest to my lack of general fashion knowledge and interest. My general fashion parameters are: appropriateness, comfortable and on sale. I share this as a way of letting you know this is in no way going to turn into anything other than a travel blog. I had seen this ‘100 day challenge’ a couple times in the past, and always looked at it with interest but never considered really doing it. Well, given my current COVID lifestyle and general lack of demands on my life (fashion or...
A Winter Trip to Seoul

(December 2017) After spending a couple months getting acquainted with our new home in Japan it was time to really test this “homeschooling so we can travel” theory. My husband had a week and a half long trip to Seoul and we were going! We flew up on Saturday to give ourselves an extra day of family sightseeing before the work week started. Sunday morning we bundled up in our winter jackets for the first time this winter and headed out for the Gyeongbokgung Palace. We got combination tickets that included the palace as well as several other sights -...
Hawaii - Take I

(September 2017) Japan - Here we come! Our family of 3 hadn’t been whole for a couple months, but it was almost time for us (my Sidekick and I) to head to Japan, our new home. To say anticipation was high would be an understatement. - First Bomb Shell - Husband: “So … I need to fly to Hawaii for a few days right after you get here”. Me: “Situation normal, not a big deal.” - Second - Husband: “So … it might be for a week.” Me: “Fine” - Third - Husband: “So … you know how I...
